PCL began operations in 1906, as E.E. Contractors, founded by Ernest Edward Poole of Stoughton, Saskatchewan.
In 1967, Ted Wiens saw a need for egg production in Saskatchewan. He and his brother, Oscar, started an egg layer production farm to supply the western Canadian marketplace. By the early 1980s, the company was the 2nd largest egg producer in the country
